House Arrest

7 House Arrest - Tales From Social Distance CD cover.jpg

Tracks + Lyrics

  • I got a bad case of the 6ft Blues

that's 72 between me and you

I watch too much of the Evening News

where Donald keeps tellin’ me everything’s cool

    …just keep your distance

That elbow bump ain’t as good as fistin’

just cover your sneeze ‘cause we don’t want mistin’

I’m tryin’ to build up my virus resistance

Cause I’m gettin’ real tired of all this social distance.

    …stay away from the neighbors

I’ve watched every single Netflix show

I want to step out but I got to lay low

cause Walmart’s the only place I can go

these 6 foot blues are getting old

    … sanitize

Let’s keep it real, between you and me

By the way, do you have any extra TP?

I keep washin’ my hands to stay germ free

These six foot blues are getting’ to me.

    … don’t forget to wipe

Lookin forward to visiting my music places

When I can resume all the social graces

But for now all my friends live in cyber spaces

You can live inside Facebook, but cover your faces

    …can I unfriend Corona?

  • If it’s true that time is money

Then money’s all I got right now

Spending my time walkin the line

    Stayin home and sittin around

Tryin’ to decide what I should do first

But the first thing on my to-do list

Is spendin my time with my honey

Cause I’m the richest man in town

If it’s true that time is money

Then my bank account is full

We’re spendin our time watching birds and trees

But our days are never dull

No more 9 to 5, just dawn to dusk

Just do what I want, but not what I must

I’m spending my time with my honey

Cause I’m the richest man in town

Guess the day will come when I gotta go back

    And exchange my currency

Then I’ll spend it on friends and music

And the folks I’ve rarely seen

I can shake their hand, cause I know how to share

The hidden treasure that’s always been there

I’ll paint the town and pass it around

Cause I’m the richest man in town.

  • I’m home in the mountains, doin just what is pleasin

Just pickin on the back porch, I’m glad it’s not freezin

Hiding out from Corona, all the day long

Lookin up at the clouds, waitin to think of a song

You could say that I’m doing just what I do best

I’m starting to like being under … house arrest

I’m here in the house following all the damn rules

Listening to the neighbors’ gas-powered yard tools

The Governor says I can’t go out, so don’t ask

But how can he see it’s me under this mask

You could say that I’m doing just what I do best

I’m starting to like being under … house arrest

Cause I don’t have to shave, or even get dressed

Soon I’ll have to get one of those ankle beepers

So I can’t go outside in my onesie sleepers

You could say that I’m doing just what I do best

I’m starting to like being under … house arrest

Til the day I go free when the planets are aligning

I’m Making the best of this silver lining

Enjoying the pleasures of being alive

Me and my gal … happy hour at five

You could say that I’m doing just what I do best

Finding silver linings in this … house arrest

  • In the time Before time became our rival

We were tangled in the hours of our survival

When wasting time was our only crime

We dreamed a dream of return to simple times

Who could know we’d get just what we wanted?

Standing in the place from where we started.

    Today

Today we find that Time’s our one companion

Endless days and nights and how we pass them.

Now the dreams we dream are about past busy lives

Of going off to work or shop or dine.

Who could know we’d get just what we wanted?

Funny how what we want … is what has parted

    Double edged lives

Moments in time, Between past and future

Moments in time between day and dusk

Captured in time, caught on the wind

    Between rhythm and rust.

Now We cherish our Moments in time, the art of living

Moments spent dreaming of what time could be

In moments before the dawn the air is mellow

And the sky evolves from gray to red to yellow

Who could know we’d get just what we wanted?

Re-learning the art of living from where we started.

    again

Moments in time Between past and future

Moments in time between day and dusk

Captured in time, caught on the wind

    Between rhythm and rust.

Who could know we’d get just what we wanted?

Standing in the place from where we started.

    Today .

  • I dreamed I met Picasso, walking on the downtown square

He let me come inside his head / And I saw the world from there.

Time became distorted / looking through his eyes

at strange entangled figures / And it came as a surprise

…. it didn’t look like I hoped would

    …. didn’t make sense … right away

but his vision told the story

of the world we know today

we walked a little further, past a lonely street café

We happened upon Edvard Munch / as night took over the day

his body was contorted in a sudden helpless scream

hands upon his face in fear / And I tried hard not to see

…. The vision that had shocked him

    …. But I couldn’t turn away

I knew right then he was looking at

    the world we know today

I left and ran back to the square … in a dark and frazzled retreat

The bricks were out of focus as they swam beneath my feet

I wished it was tomorrow / Shook the dream out of my head

Tried to find some morning light beyond this night of dread

    …. I ran a little further

…. til I came upon today

From there I looked beyond the dawn…-And said hi to Monet

  • It’s put me off my daily rhythm

and I'm not the only one

but I’m going with the flow I know

Cause I’ve settled on a Tempo of …

    one two one two one

    Runnin ‘gainst the viral virus,

til the race is finally won

Been a long time seeking gratitude

But I’m heading for the latitude of …

    one two one two one

Babies are born. Home fires burnin’

Earth receives the rain from up above

Life goes on, and the world keeps turnin’

    People keep falling in love

Soon the good times will go viral

and when all is said and done

I’ll be set to pull the rip cord

I’ll be landing in the zip code of …

    one two one two one

Babies are born. Home fires burnin’

Earth receives the rain from up above

Life goes on, and the world keeps turnin’

    People keep falling in love

With the virus far behind us,

we’ll be shining in the sun

we’ll return to days of thriving

with the calendar arriving at …

    One two one two one

We’ll know that we’ve survived it

When the calendar arrives at …

    one two one two one
